Family Assistance
For us, Family Assistance includes anything we are providing to families that helps to stabilize and strengthen the family. Our goal is not to provide a hand out, but rather a hand up, addressing emergency and systemic issues so that the stresses of living in poverty are reduced and adults have a clearer vision of God's plan and purpose for them and for their family.
Program Components
Commodities distributions
We provide food, diapers, clothing, school supplies, hats and mittens, household items and more to families in need. These are given at no charge to ease burdens and help us to build relationships with community residents.
Family events
We sponsor or partner with others to provide community events multiple times during the year to provide low income families with the opportunity to do something together. These events often include food, games and prizes, and the opportunity to hear more about God's plan for their lives.
technology support
Many of our families lack the technology needed to stay in touch with family, apply for a job, or communicate with other agencies or medical personnel. We make computers, fax machines, copiers and telephones freely available in the communities we serve.
referrals
We know we are not equipped to do it all but we are blessed to have committed staff and volunteers that are able to build close relationships with residents. Because of this we are able to identify needs and loving direct residents to the programs and services that will best help them.
